The No. 1 restaurant question I’ve been getting from readers lately: “When is Tasty House, the new concept by former Yen Ching owners, going to open?”

The No. 2 restaurant question I’ve been getting from readers lately: “Will they have my favorite Yen Ching dish on the menu?”

Today, I have partial answers to both questions.

Tom and Cathay Chang, who closed their 30-year-old Yen Ching at 430 N. Rock Road in May 2014, say they should have Tasty House open at 2431 N. Greenwich by the end of the month. They’re just waiting for the Coca Cola machines to be installed and think they can be ready in two weeks. The restaurant is a few doors down from Blue River Mexican Grill, across the parking lot from Cabela’s at Regency Lakes, 21st and Greenwich.

The menu is at the printer, and today, Cathay Chang listed some of the former Yen Ching dishes that are on it. They include sweet and spicy three ingredient, three ingredient in black bean sauce, Mongolian beef, triple crown, sesame chicken and lemon chicken.

Yen Ching fans, though, should be aware that the new restaurant will have a different setup. It will be a quick-service concept, where diners order at the counter and can either dine in or take their food to go.

After closing Yen Ching, the Changs spent their time traveling to visit family on the West Coast. They kept their house in Wichita and recently decided they were ready to give the restaurant business another try, but they wanted something smaller.

I’ll let you know when they’ve settled on an exact opening date.
