Wow Cheesesteaks is celebrating its grand opening with food discounts, music and cars.

He’s been serving his Wow Cheesesteaks for nearly six weeks now, and Tyler Sanders is ready to celebrate.

On Saturday, June 4, he’s planning a big grand opening event at his restaurant, which is in the former Yolo Grill space at 803 N. West St. It will last all day Saturday and will include a 25 percent discount on his new meal deals, which include a sandwich waffle fries and a drink. He’ll also have a few hot rod cars on display, and under his awning, he’ll put on an open jam featuring local banjo players, fiddlers, cloggers and other musicians.

“Hopefully, we’ll just have a good time, and I’ll get people to experience my food,” he said.

Sanders, who used to live in Philadelphia, is serving authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, just like the ones he remembers from his time there. His best customers so far, he said, have come from a surprisingly large group of former Philadelphians who now live in Wichita.

His hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays, and those are the hours he’ll be there on grand opening day. For more information, call 316-491-1239 or visit the shop’s Facebook page.
