South-side mystery building will hold Taco Bell; Pizza Hut next door

Many curious readers have e-mailed me lately wanting to know what’s going in to the nearly-complete purple and tan building near the corner of Harry and Webb. It looks like a restaurant space, they say.

It is. On Monday, I drove out to the construction site, trampled through the dirt and asked contractors on site what they were building. The answer: A Taco Bell.

Fugate Enterprises, which owns local Taco Bell and Pizza Hut franchises, is building the restaurant, and there’s more. The under-construction space next door will hold a new Pizza Hut and will have retail spaces as well.
