Weekly Little Saigon lunch date recorded – and now framed

There’s a new tradition at Dave Freeman’s traditional Tuesday lunch at Little Saigon.

I wrote last month about KSN head meteorologist Freeman’s habit of eating at Little Saigon, the Vietnamese restaurant at 1015 N. Broadway, every Tuesday and always ordering the same thing – a dish he dreamed up that features charbroiled pork, fried rice and steamed veggies.

Freeman always meets his buddies John Snyder, a former KSN anchor, and Gordon Bassham, a KSN web producer. The date has stuck for five years, and the trio raves about the cooking and business sense of Little Saigon owner Rose Santana.

The new tradition? Rose Santana’s mom, Kim Santana, now has a framed copy of the article we published, and she really likes it.

She likes it so much, that she now takes it over to show it to Freeman and company every Tuesday when they come to dine.

“What a genuinely sweet person,” Bassham said, commenting on a photo he sent me of Kim Santana.

Here it is, and she does look pretty sweet.
