Downtown Wichita’s sit-down Scooter’s will open in three weeks
We finally have an opening date for the Scooter’s Coffee set to open right next door to the Wichita Eagle, at the corner of Douglas and Rock Island downtown.
The shop, a rare Scooter’s that’s a sit-down coffee house rather than a drive-through kiosk, will have a “soft opening,” intended to help employees learn their jobs, on Monday, March 7. The grand opening will be on Friday, March 11.
I peeked inside this morning, and the interior is done. The shop has a few small booths for two, some living room-style furniture and a big table that will seat up to eight in the front window. Eventually, it should have some outdoor seating on Douglas as well.
This Scooter’s will also have a drive-through, which should make for some interesting traffic situations on Rock Island. The order board is up, too.
Weekday hours will be 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Scooter’s will be open on weekends, too, but likely will open a little later and stay open later, a manager said.
