When I was a kid in Catholic school, Lent in the lunchroom always meant triangular fried fish filets or cheese pizza.

Now that I’m a grownup, I have more options, and one that always tempts me is the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Meatless Mexican Dinners, which it offers Fridays through Lent – and Lent starts on Wednesday.

The church, which is at 2351 N. Market, will serve its first dinner of the season on Friday, and they’ll continue Friday through March 18.

Items will be available from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Parish Center, and the menu includes cheese and onion enchiladas, tostadas, potato tacos, chile rellenos and more. You can dine in or carry out. Proceeds support scholarships to send parish children to Catholic schools. For more information, call 316-838-5750.
