Eastern Cuisine’s last day in business will be Thursday
Thursday, Dec. 31, is your last day to visit Eastern Cuisine, the east-African cuisine restaurant at 3811 W. 13th St. Its owner announced on Facebook today that it is closing.
Owner Tumaini Kilangwa said her husband got a job as a juvenile corrections officer in Denver and the family will be relocating.
Kilangwa said she hopes to open a version of her restaurant in Denver.
“There’s a lot of authentic African restaurants there, but not an East-African restaurant,” she said.
Kilangwa, a native of Tanzania, Africa, opened Eastern Cuisine at 613 W. Douglas (where Tahini Mediterranean Eatery is now) in August 2014. She moved the restaurant to the bigger space next to Knolla’s in February.
Thursday’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Kilangwa said. She’ll put on an equipment sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 6-8.
