In case you hadn’t heard, Garth Brooks is in town, and lots of local restaurants are really hoping he stops by. Some have even issued public, social media invitations to the singer and his wife. The Donut Whole sent a dozen doughnuts (six Garth Brooks German chocolate and six Trisha Yearwood Italian cream cake) to a press conference on Thursday, along with an invitation to stop by.

Will he? The singer did indicate during his Thursday news conference that he loved pizza. “Round is my favorite,” he said with a laugh. I’ll be eager to hear of any Garth sightings in local businesses.

In the meantime, several Wichita restaurants are making special arrangements to welcome Brooks fans who might want to dine before or after this weekend’s shows. Among them:

Taste & See at 255 N. Washington. is offering a special Garth Brooks pre-show three-course meal, which will be available between 4 and 6 p.m. Friday through Saturday nights. Entree choices include marinated flank steak with chive mashed potatoes or fried chicken on a bed of four-cheese bacon risotto. It’s $30 a person. For a reservation, call 316-260-4233.

Also, Molino’s Mexican Cuisine at 1064 N. Waco will stay open an hour later on Saturday – until 10 p.m. – to accommodate fans waiting for the late show. The restaurant is just a few blocks from one of the arena’s four shuttle stops, at 410 N. Waco. For more information, call 316-977-9336.

And Old Mill Tasty Shop at 604 E. Douglas, which normally closes at 3 p.m., will stay open until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
