Local beverage purveyors want their customers to sit still and keep drinking. And they’re coming up with creative ways to do so, adding adult coloring and reading events to their calendars. Several such events are coming up in the next week or two. Among them:

1. Central Standard Brewing Books & Brews: This brewery at 156 S. Greenwood has its own book club, and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 6, members will be discussing the book “The Art Forger” by B.A. Shapiro. Of course, they’ll sip beer while they discuss and also will select a book for the next meeting. The meeting is open to anyone.

2. Reverie Coffee Roasters Coloring Book Social: The coffee shop at 2611 E. Douglas is inviting people to bring their own coloring pages and markers to its event, which is from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 9. Garden of Eatin’ Food Truck will be serving out front from 6 to 8 p.m. All ages are welcome.

3. Hopping Gnome Beer and Coloring Club: The local brewery at 1710 E. Douglas had its first adult coloring club meet-up back in September and now is putting one on the second Sunday of every month. The next event starts at 2 p.m. on Dec. 13. Attendees are asked to bring their own coloring books and supplies, though the brewery will have a few extras on hand. The coloring club meetings, organizers say, have been drawing large groups of women.
