The Midwest Beerfest’s annual grand tasting will return on Saturday, Oct. 3, at its new evening time, from 4 to 7 p.m. But if you want to get in on the first day of the festival by taking part in one of three beer dinners put on around town on Friday, Oct. 2, you’ll need to make your reservations right away. Seating is limited at the dinners, which all start at 7 p.m. and cost $55 a person, and they usually sell out. To make reservations, call 316-682-5502. The choices are:

Breckenridge Brewery dinner: This one is at the Marriott Wichita, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive, and will feature comments from Breckenridge Brewrey sales manager Melissa Field. Guests will be served a five-course meal, each one paired with a different Breckenridge Brewery beer. A sampling of the menu: brats and beer soup with cayenne popcorn paired with Breckenridge Autumn Ale, and beef and American-Irish Stout pie paired with Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout.

Boulevard Brewing Company dinner: This dinner, at YaYa’s Eurobistro, 8115 E. 21st St. N., will be lead by a representative from the brewery and will feature courses including Boston clam and fresh roasted corn chowder paired with Bob’s 47 Oktoberfest and roasted top sirloin stuffed with spinach Gorgonzola and topped with rye beer reduction sauce paired with Rye-on-Rye beer.

Odell Brewing Company dinner: Lakeside Club at 2121 N. Webb Road is the site for this dinner, which will feature Odell representative Matt Shadid. The restaurant is still working on the menu, but the courses will be paired with Odell beers including 90 Shilling Ale, Easy Street Wheat and Fifty-Niner.
