A Hometown Breakfast Battle is brewing, and Bobby’s Benedict needs your vote.

Chef Bobby Lane, the co-owner and head chef at Wichita’s Chester’s Chophouse, 1550 N. Webb, is one of 135 competitors in a breakfast contest being put on by the Thomas’ brand, which manufactures grocery store English muffins and bagels. The brand is celebrating its 135th anniversary.

Thomas’ is asking people to vote until Sept. 27 for their favorite chefs and recipes. After that, the pool will be narrowed to a top 16, then a top eight, then a top four, then a top two. The contest ends on Oct. 25, when one chef’s breakfast creation will be named best. Those who vote are entered to win a $10,000 grand price and free Thomas’ products.

Until Sept. 27, people can vote up to three times daily. After that, the site will accept votes only once a day.

Lane’s entry is a Kansas BBQ Beef Benedict, and he provides the recipe on the site. He tops Thomas’ English muffins with brisket, crispy shallots, bean sprouts and an orange Hollandaise sauce.

To vote, visit the contest’s website.
