This Wichita pizza restaurant’s last day at its current address will be Monday
When we reported in early April that Dave’s Hot Chicken would open a restaurant in Wichita’s Greenwich Place development, only one detail was unclear: Which space?
That mystery was solved Thursday when Blaze Pizza managing partner Sterling James posted on social media that his restaurant’s last day in Greenwich Place would be Monday, May 11. The address on the building permit filed by Dave’s Hot Chicken — 2692 N. Greenwich Road — is shared by both Schlotzsky’s, which opened in Greenwich Place in 2019, and Blaze Pizza, which opened its Wichita restaurant there in 2017.
In the post, James wrote that the restaurant would move to Regency Lakes, the property at nearby 21st and Greenwich that’s home to SuperTarget, Slim Chickens, Chili’s and Cabela’s. James did not immediately reply to a message asking which space the restaurant would be taking over.
His post said that proceeds from Monday’s sales would go to the restaurant’s “dedicated staff.” He instructed customers to bring cash and wrote that the doors would open at 11 a.m. and stay open until the restaurant runs out of dough.
Blaze should reopen in Regency Lakes this summer, the post said.
In April, a spokesperson for Dave’s Hot Chicken confirmed the restaurant’s plans for Greenwich Place and said the restaurant should be open by the third quarter of the year, which typically runs July 1 through Sept. 30. It will be run by operators Jason and John Hotckiss and their business partner Paul Gorman, who also has opened Dave’s Hot Chicken restaurants in San Antonio.
The popular fast-casual restaurant, which is based in California, debuted not quite a decade ago and has about 300 restaurants nationwide.
