Wichita pizza restaurant asks locals to design new pizza box as part of contest

Here’s a fun contest for the starving artists of Wichita. Or at least for the ones starving for city-wide fame.

Ziggy’s Pizza, which has several restaurants across Wichita specializing in rectangular pizzas, is challenging artistically inclined locals to design its new pizza box. The winning design will be printed on thousands of the restaurant’s pizza boxes, which will be used all summer, said co-owner Jamie Verbeckmoes

Those who want to participate must pick up an art page at one of four Ziggy’s locations: 3700 E. Douglas, 12115 E. 21st St., 8404 W. 13th St. or 13605 W. Maple.

The pages, which contain all the rules for the contest, must be returned with the entry.

The contest begins Wednesday, April 15, when Ziggy’s will start accepting entries. The restaurants will accept only one entry a person. Entries must be turned in by May 15.

Finalists will be named on Ziggy’s social media pages, and the public will be able to help choose the winner. Social media is also where the winner will be announced.

The chosen artist will earn a pizza party for 20 and a Ziggy’s gift basket. The finalists will also earn Ziggy’s prizes.

Those who enter cannot use digital images, and their entries must contain just one color. They also must incorporate the words “Ziggy’s Pizza” into their designs.

Artists of any age may enter.

“This is our first time doing this, and we are hopeful it will be a fun contest for all to enjoy,” Verbeckmoes said.
