Braeburn Square’s newest restaurant should open sometime next week, owner says
UPDATE: Rajadhani Indian Cuisine’s opening day is Dec. 26, 2025.
An Indian restaurant that got its start in Overland Park is expanding into Wichita and should open sometime next week, its owner said.
Sai Thonukunuri, who opened his first Rajadhani Indian Cuisine restaurant two years ago at 12030 Blue Valley Parkway in Overland Park, said the Wichita location of his restaurant should open sometime next week at Braeburn Square, the development at Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus, 21st and Oliver.
The Wichita restaurant will be Thonukunuri’s second Rajadhani restaurant, though he’s also planning to open one in St. Louis. He liked the spot in Wichita, he said, because of its proximity to the many Indian students who attend WSU.
“I didn’t find a good Indian restaurant in Wichita, so I feel that there’s a little vacuum for Indian food,” he said.
The restaurant, which will be full service, will take over the space on Braeburn Square’s far south end that Sesame Mediterranean Kitchen left vacant when it closed early this year. (Sesame still has a restaurant open at 2755 N. Maize Road.)
Rajadhani Indian Cuisine’s specialty is biryani but it’s also known for its kebabs, chicken curry and naan. The menu for the Overland Park restaurant is 10 pages long.
“We serve dishes from all over India: South Indian, North Indian, Eastern and Western,” Thonukunur said.
Rajadhani will be open for both lunch and dinner. I’ll let you know when the restaurant is ready to open.
