Downtown Wichita coffee drinkers will have a new, drive-up option starting on Friday.

That’s when the newest Scooter’s coffee kiosk at 311 N. Washington will officially open, and the shop will be offering $1 medium drinks all day. (It’s actually operating right now, as employees train.)

The new shop, which has drive-through windows but no indoor seating, sits right next door to the new Gianni Bacci’s bar. When I drove by this afternoon, I found the bar’s owner, Jason Febres, standing at the drive-up window ordering a frozen drink. (Downtown dwellers – the employee there told me that the shop, which is only big enough for employees on the inside, also will accept walk-up customers.)

Its hours will be 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. The menu features a variety of coffee drinks, including Chai latte, candy bar latte and white mocha. There are also “espresso blenders,” which are frozen, sweet coffee drinks, and Scooter’s also serves fresh fruit smoothies as well as oatmeal, pastries, cookies and breakfast burritos.

The new Scooter’s is owned by Pat Do, the physician who founded Mid-America Orthopedics and who also owns the Scooter’s at Kellogg and Andover. He’s also planning Scooter’s at the under-construction Union Station and at Wilson estates Medical Park near 21st and Webb.
