Wichita restaurant closed ‘until further notice.’ So far, no one’s talking.
Here’s what we do know about Amore Italian Restaurant, which opened two years ago at 2315 W. 21st St.:
A sign appeared on the door last week saying that the restaurant was “closed until further notice.”
Amore restaurants that the same family opened in Derby, Salina and Great Bend in early 2024 all closed pretty quickly after opening.
The Facebook page for the restaurant is no longer active. Those who call the restaurant’s phone number will get a message saying, “the destination’s mailbox is full.”
And no one associated with the Wichita restaurant, including the couple that opened it and building landlord Moeder & Associates, returned calls over the weekend about the status of the restaurant.
Tony Demaj, whose cousin Visar Milushi ran Wichita’s Amore with his wife, Makayla, said that Visar Milushi left the country, and he didn’t know the status of the Wichita restaurant. (The Milushis and Demaj are part of a family that owned several Italian restaurants, including two in Mississippi.) Neither Visar or Makayla Milushi returned messages about the closure.
But as of Sunday, all of the restaurant’s furniture was still in place. Hutchinson’s Roma’s Italian Ristorante, which Demaj opened in October 2023, is still open.
Wichita’s Amore Italian Restaurant has operated for two years in the space near 21st and Amidon that had been home in the past to Neighbors and Town & Country Classic Too.
Visar Milushi was the chef, and he put out pasta dishes and entrees like veal piccata, chicken marsala and chicken Alfredo.
I’ll update this post if I hear a definite answer about whether Amore will reopen.
