Three Wichita foodie events will include burgers, wine and general frivolity
Another busy weekend for food and wine lovers is coming up in Wichita. Those who can tear themselves away from the Wichita Riverfest food court can choose from three big events happening around town, including a dual birthday party for two popular restaurants, an annual wine festival and the return of a popular burger event.
Here are the details:
Parking Lot Party at Happiness Plaza, 3555 E. Douglas: Popular Wichita restaurant The Belmont is turning 5, its next-door sister restaurant is turning 1, and the owners are celebrating by throwing a big party at Happiness Plaza from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. The event, which will also include a ribbon cutting for the restaurants’ new parking lot, is free to attend and will include live music, yard games and a photo booth. Larcher’s also will be introducing a new menu.
KETCH Burger Battle: This annual fundraiser, which lets people sample burgers from a long list of local restaurants, happens from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Capitol Federal Amphitheater, 1609 E. Central, Andover. Both attendees and judges will choose which burger they think is best. (Among the restaurants cooking will be Red Robin, Jumbo’s Beef & Brews and Southeast Carryout. The event also will include a car show, kids activities and more. Tickets are $30 for ages 13 and over, $15 for ages 7-12, free for ages 6 and under. Get them at ketch.org/burgerbattle
Decant ICT: This wine festival, which was started in 2022 by the Wichita Chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food, returns for its fourth installment from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Wichita Marriott Hotel, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive. Ticket holders will get to sample wine, spirits, and hors d’oeuvres and will get a wine glass to keep. Tickets are $70 for AIWF members and $80 for nonmembers.
