New Andover restaurant opens, another partially opens, and another is slowly coming along
Andover Road is the epicenter for restaurant news in Andover lately, and today, there are updates to share.
One Andover Road restaurant opened Thursday. One restaurant is half open and will be fully open next week. And another has a small progress update to share.
Here’s information on each:
Opened Thurday
Victory Sports Bar, 418 N. Andover Road: Longtime Wichita business partners David Allan and Charlie Badeen opened their new Andover sports bar on Thursday. The duo, who also own Rain Bistro & Lounge in downtown Wichita and recently sold Dudley’s Irish Pub at 8550 W. 21st St., say their new business is a family-oriented neighborhood bar and grill that features a menu similar to what Dudley’s had. It includes things like pizza, sandwiches, burgers and specialty appetizers.
Partially open
Abode Bar & Bistro, 837 N. Andover Road: Il Primo owner Daniel Mariotti is the owner of this split-concept restaurant in the former home of The Rusted Rooster, and last weekend he opened one half of it. The bar side of the business, which is more casual and offers its own menu of affordable lunch and dinner items like sandwiches, soups and salads, opened over the weekend. It also serves coffee, craft cocktails, beer and wine. The bar area has retractable doors leading to a front patio. It’s open from 11 a.m. to midnight most days.
The bistro side of the restaurant — a dinner-only, fine-dining spot with a Southwestern flare, will open on Friday, April 18, and will feature unique preparations of steaks, seafood, pork chops and handmade pastas. It will also have its own wine list. The bistro side of the restaurant is small — with just 24 seats — and will be open from 5 to 10 p.m.
Coming along
Point Nine, 1533 N. Andover Road, Andover: Automobile dealer Jill Hattan is working on an indoor/outdoor restaurant and venue aimed at families who use the nearby Redbud Trail, which is near her own Andover home. She’s calling it a “trailside eatery,” and it will serve things like sandwiches and pizzas plus picnics to go. Though owners originally hoped to have it open by spring, construction continues, they said this week. They’re now aiming for a June opening.
