A new bar and grill in west Wichita has connections to another local restaurant
A new bar and grill has just opened in the spot at 756 N. Tyler Road that over the past several years has been home to businesses including Augustino Brewing, Angry Elephant and, most recently, Lito’s.
And its owner has a connection to another local restaurant.
Eclipse Bar & Grill, which quietly started its soft opening on Monday, is owned by Kinan Flowers, who co-owned a bar in Texas when he was in his 20s, then worked for years as a truck driver. His daughter and son-in-law, who have been helping him get the restaurant open, are Visar and Makayla Milushi — the owners of Amore Italian Restaurant at 2315 W. 21st St.
Eclipse Bar & Grill offers a menu of American, Mexican and Italian dishes, including things like pizza, pasta and burgers, and it also has a full bar that has 12 beers on tap and offers margaritas and some “creative shots,” Makayla Milushi said.
Flowers is using the larger north side of the building for the dining room and has equipped it with pool tables, foosball tables and dart boards. It’s open to all ages.
The smaller south section of the space, where Augustino Brewing Company once had its brewing equipment and installed a bar, will be open to ages 21 and over.
Makayla Milshi said she’s excited about another unique part of the restaurant. Her father, who eventually had to quit driving trucks when he was diagnosed with epilepsy, never stopped dreaming about opening his own bar. In fact, he told his family for years that running a bar was his retirement plan.
With that in mind, Flowers spent years collecting unique glassware from estate sales and has a huge collection of dome-shaped beer mugs, martini glasses and otherwise unique drinking glasses. He’s going to use his collection to serve drinks at the new business, his daughter said.
Eclipse Bar & Grill will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
