Wine of the week: 2014 Wild Horse Pinot Gris
WINE OF THE WEEK: 2014 Wild Horse Pinot Gris
Recommended by: Drew Hendricks, vice president wine divisions, Standard Beverage
Price: $14.99
Tastes like: “Aromas of fresh peach and pineapple on the nose are enhanced by a beautiful jasmine floral note. The palate is rich and succulent with a crisp lemony finish.”
Pairs well with: “Pool and patios tend to work well. Seafood is a great pairing. Any shellfish, especially with some spice, would be a great match here. The classic Alsace pairing is Schnitzel, and it works very well.”
Comments: “I think Pinot gris is a great summer wine. Sitting on the patio and sipping this will cool you off and prime your palate. Pinot gris grapes are slightly pink in color, and that color gives the resulting wine a bit more structure and mouth feel.”
