She lost her lease in mid-June. This weekend, her restaurant reopens at a new address.
Less than two months after she lost her lease and was forced to leave her restaurant space of eight years, Bann Thai owner Wanwaree Jackson is reopening her business in a new space.
She’ll open at 255 N. Maize Road, in the space vacated earlier this year by Perfect Plate, on Friday.
Her opening weekend hours will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
“Please be patient as we only have seating for 30 people and want everyone to have an enjoyable and relaxing experience,” the owner said in a Facebook post announcing that the restaurant had passed its health inspection.
The space, which is at 53rd North and Maize Road, has about 1,200 square feet
Starting on Monday, the restaurant’s permanent hours will be 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays plus 5 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 5 to 8:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sundays.
Bann Thai, known for its spicy Thai fare, had operated at 3911 W. 13th St. for eight years, but Jackson suddenly lost her lease in June. Her fans had just a few days’ notice before she had to shut down and move out.
She launched a frenzied search for a new space, and after several spots fell through, she settled on the one in Maize.
Bann Thai first opened at 6249 E. 21st St. in 2012 but closed in 2016 and moved to 13th and West Street. Jackson became known for her extra spicy cuisine and would even put on the occasional spicy food eating contests.
