Wichita restaurant that just announced closure is transformed into a late-night pho shop
UPDATE: After opening weekend, the owners changed the hours of the restaurant to 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The Pho King news I have to report starts out sort of sad but ends happily.
Pho King ICT, the restaurant at 4857 E. Harry with the don’t-say-it-too-fast name that first opened in late 2022, closed on Tuesday. So did Chick’n Pop, the boba and chicken sandwich restaurant that opened at 3233 E. Harry in 2022.
But on Friday, Pho King ICT reopened in the old Chick’n Pop spot as Pho King 247.
The store’s manager, Bo Doyle, said that Pho King 247 will have a similar menu to Pho King ICT but that it will be slightly smaller when it first opens. The owner hopes to add more menu items as time goes on, though.
The owner wanted to try to add something new to the late-night food scene in Wichita, Doyle said. Chick’n Pop wasn’t pulling in the sales the owner expected, so he decided to “pull the plug.”
Pho King ICT first opened in Wichita in October of 2022 but closed from July of 2023 until early 2024, when it suddenly reopened.
