North Maize Road is about to get yet another popular food chain

Something new is always going up on North Maize Road these days, and a just-started construction project in the parking lot in front of the Lowe’s near 29th and Maize Road has been catching the attention of people who frequent the area.

So what’s being built on that space?

The answer: a new Smoothie King.

Though Smoothie King has so far not responded with details about when the new shop will open or what features it will include, local developer Brad Saville confirmed that his and Christian Ablah’s Eastside Investments LLC was the developer on the project. Scott Harper with Landmark Commercial Real Estate represented Smoothie King in the deal.

Plans filed with the City of Wichita indicate that the new Smoothie King, whose address will be 2620 N. Maize Road, will have 812 square feet and that it will have both a drive-through lane and an online order pickup lane.

The newest Smoothie King in Wichita is a corporate-owned store with a double drive-through that opened in September 2022 at 2696 Greenwich Court, which is at the entrance of the Greenwich Place development.

Wichita’s other Smoothie King stores, all corporate owned, are at 8000 W. Central, 711 E. Douglas, and 3236 N. Rock Road. Derby also has one at 1861 E. Madison Ave.

I’ll update this post when I get more details about Smoothie King’s plans for the new shop.
