A new business is taking over the old Taco Grande space near 21st and Amidon
The old Taco Grande space at 2315 W. 21st St. is about to get a new tenant.
Eddie Tian says that he and his wife, Jingdan Huang, plan to open a new bakery in the space called Puffette. It will serve cream puffs with different flavors of filling, Chinese-style egg tarts and a variety of Asian tea.
They hope to have the bakery open before Mother’s Day, which is on May 12.
Tian said that his wife, who is from Taiwan, is well-known in the local Chinese community for her cream puffs, which she’s been selling to people she knows.
“They’re so good,” he said. “Everyone says to her, ‘Open a store.’”
The couple is working on fixing up the space and will have a few seats inside where people can enjoy their tea and pastries. They haven’t agreed on exact hours yet, but Puffette likely will be open from 9 or 9:30 a.m. until 7:30 or 8 p.m. It will be closed on Tuesdays.
The strip center, owned by Leon Moeder of Moeder & Associates, is also home to Amore Italian Restaurant, which opened on the east end of the strip center in November. Michael Moeder of Moeder & Associates put the lease together.
