Some churches sell chicken and noodles at their fundraisers. Some sell kibbe and hummus.

But St. Joseph Catholic Parish, a church with an attached school at 132 S. Millwood, makes its annual fundraising dinner a German feast. The church is west of Douglas and Seneca.

On Sunday, the parishioners at the Delano church will put on their 64th annual St. Joseph Parish Dinner, which offers a meal of German sausage with mashed potatoes, scratch-made gravy, sauerkraut, coleslaw, corn, cinnamon applesauce and homemade pie.

The dinner will last from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meals cost $15 apiece, and Illysa Harms, the co-chair of the parish dinner committee, describes it as “a ton of food.”

“This dinner is our parish’s largest fundraiser, and it takes just about every family in the parish to accomplish,” she said.

All are welcome, and people can dine in until 4 p.m. or get their meals to-go or at a drive through until 5 p.m.

The event also will include a game room for the kids, a beer garden for adults, and a raffle with lots of prizes, including the 50/50 grand prize. Raffle tickets are $1 apiece of six for $5.
