Wichita foodie alert: Two more restaurant-packed food festivals happen this weekend, next
September, it appears, is for foodie fairs.
On the heels of last weekend’s Orie’s Garlic Festival and Zoobilee, Wichitans are about to get two more opportunities to celebrate local food — and sample fare from local restaurants — at two food fairs. One happens this weekend, and the other starts next week and culminates with a big restaurant tasting event next weekend.
They are:
TASTE AND TOUR
5-9 p.m. Saturday, Wave, 650 E. Second St.
This first-year event, put on by an event company called G1 Sports and Entertainment, is intended to showcase cuisine from all around the world. The organizers have recruited 17 restaurants, food trucks and food businesses for the event, and they’ll be selling items from booths set up around the venue.
Patrons will buy $7 tickets to get into the festival ($15 for VIP early entry at 4 p.m.) then will purchase food items from the individual booths. The organizers plan to group vendors together by cuisine so people can walk through the venue and feel like they’re traveling the world through food. The event also will include face painting for kids and yard games.
The food vendors that will be there serving are: Kobe Steakhouse, Mochinut, Mama Nith’s, Lil Shrimp Boys, Charcutistry, Wichita Cheesecake Company, Joy Tea, Noble Nine Bakery, Crafted, Denise House of Goods 2, Up in Sweets, Bao Bites, Yuan Yuan Foods, Noble House Hawaiian Plate Lunch, Funky Monkey Munchies, Jumbo’s Beef and Brew, Abuelitas Cocina.

Foodies can still sign up for some of this week’s workshops, though a few are sold out. A $55-a-ticket session called Craft Brews & Bites happens from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and will be led by Jennifer Ray, owner of The Monarch. There’s also a cocktail tasting on Wednesday, a wine tasting on Thursday and a Thai cooking demonstration, also on Thursday.
