They’re not ready to share too many details yet, but Brad and Brent Steven are hoping to expand The Hill Bar & Grill at 4800 E. Douglas, which just turned 10 last month.

The brothers have recently submitted an application for a zone change with the city of Wichita that would allow them to add a microbrewery to the business. Contacted on Wednesday, Brad Steven confirmed that the brothers are hoping to grow The Hill into the space just to the west that was recently vacated by a T-Mobile store.

“We are wanting to expand The Hill with a private dining space and possibly brew some beer for The Hill customers,” Brad Steven said, adding that he was not ready to comment further. He said he could talk more “once things hopefully progress.”

The Steven brothers opened The Hill in August 2013 in 5,100 square feet of the building that for decades held jewelry store Barrier’s. At the time they opened it, the brothers said that they wanted to create a place that would focus on craft beers and American food. In the decade since, the restaurant has become a popular College Hill hangout.

The Steven brothers have also been busy in the past decade expanding their restaurant profile. They already owned Wine Dive, which they opened in 2010, when three years later they added The Hill. They’ve since added Wine Dive Kitchens in Manhattan and Lawrence as well as Vora Restaurant European at 3252 E. Douglas, which opened in 2018. Along with a partner, the brothers also own five Twin Peaks franchises in Wichita and Kansas City.

Stay tuned for more details on the brothers’ plans for The Hill as they become available.
