New-to-Wichita restaurant chain is adding a second location next month, a third one soon
An Eagle-eye Wichita Eagle reader named Joshua witnessed last week an exciting development for poke lovers in Wichita.
Pokemoto, the Connecticut-based restaurant chain that in September opened its first Wichita restaurant at 550 N. Webb Road, just put up a sign indicating the impending arrival of its second. And now, Pokemoto spokesperson says a third isn’t far behind.
The second one, which Pokemoto Chief Operating Officer Kenneth Miller said should open the third week of August, will be on Pawnee just east of Seneca. The new shop is a bit hard to spot from the road, but it’s in the same L-shaped strip center as CD Tradepost, which faces south. The new Pokemoto faces west.
The Pawnee restaurant is owned by local franchisees Kathy and Jesse Nguyen. The corporate-owned store on Webb Road that opened last year was a seed location meant to lure franchisees into opening more restaurants in the area, the company said at the time.
Miller also said that a third location would be opening in Wichita soon.
“Our first location on Webb Road is doing fantastic,” he said. “We could not be prouder.”
Pokemoto specializes in Hawaiian poke bowls made with various proteins, toppings and sauces. Customers can build their own bowls or choose from predetermined combinations. In addition, the Pokemoto menu also includes miso soup and a long list of boba teas.
