Nomar Nights events will fill Wichita’s North End with food, music, fun
Nomar Plaza could be the Naftzger Park of Wichita’s North End, says Ariel Rodriguez, executive director of Empower.
The group, a nonprofit whose goal is to promote the Hispanic businesses and residents of Wichita’s north side, is putting on a couple of nighttime events this month designed to showcase the potential of the plaza at 21st and Broadway as a public meeting place.
The two events, called Nomar Nights, will happen from 5 to 10 p.m. on June 16 and June 30. Both events will fill the plaza with food trucks, including El Rey Mexican Kitchen — a new truck on the scene owned by Erika Ruiz. Also in the lineup: La Chonchis, Tacos Chaparro, Mexi Elote and Chucherias Y Mas.
“It’s just a way to highlight the great businesses we have, and we also have this really cool space to come visit on the North End,” said Rodriguez.
The June 16 event will feature music by DJ J-Easy. One of the food trucks that will be serving — El Rey Mexican Kitchen — will be making its first outing at the event.
The June 30 event will include food trucks, live music from La Fiesta Nortena and Final Friday art on display.
The address for Nomar Paza is 204 E. 21st St.
