Save yourself a trip: These Wichita-area favorite restaurants are closed through mid-September
Usually, restaurant owners who choose to shut down for extended breaks do so in the height of summer. But these favorite Wichita restaurants are closed or about to close and won’t reopen until September.
Here’s your heads up so you don’t waste a trip:
Luciano’s, 216 W. Main, Mulvane: This 17-year-old Italian restaurant, owned by Luciano and Nancy Mottola, is one that Wichitans frequently make the short trip to enjoy. But late last week, the restaurant announced via Facebook that it was taking a break “in the hopes of reducing our expenses during our slowest weeks of the year.” Luciano’s has been closed since Monday and won’t reopen until Sept. 15. “This has been our most difficult year yet but we have great plans and hope for our future,” the Facebook post read.
Espresso to Go Go, 102 St. Francis: The staff of this longtime coffee favorite at the corner of Douglas and St. Francis in downtown Wichita need a break, and the owners need to perform some maintenance on the store. Therefore, the business will be closed starting Monday and won’t reopen until Sept. 14, owners announced in a Facebook post.
Ming’s, 1625 S. Seneca: This longtime Cantonese restaurant has been closed since Monday and won’t reopen until Sept. 1, which is Thursday.

Starbucks, 8006 E. Central: As I reported earlier this week, Starbucks at Central and Rock has been closed for a couple of weeks for a major remodel and won’t reopen until Thursday, Sept. 1.
