A downtown cold-press juice business is about to make its second downtown move in six years — though the owner isn’t ready to share the new address just yet.

Austin Dugan, who first opened 86 Cold Press at 612 E. Douglas in 2016 then moved it a few doors west to 600 E. Douglas two years later, says that he’s about to move again.

His shop is taking over another downtown space, though all he can say is that it’s a few blocks west but not on Douglas. He’s still working out some details, he said, and won’t be ready to divulge the new address for another couple of weeks.

Dugan said his last day at 600 E. Douglas will be July 29. Then, the business will close while it moves and likely won’t reopen until late August or early September.

The new space has a larger kitchen area, Dugan said, which will allow him to resume — and improve — the food service he stopped when COVID-19 started. When he reopens, he’ll offer salads, wraps and other healthy meals and snacks.

The new kitchen will also give him more room to expand production of his Backbone Yogurt, which he offers wholesale to places like Leslie Coffee Co. Dugan said he also hopes to start offering the yogurt wholesale to grocery stores soon.

The new space will also have some seating for dine-in customers and better parking, he said.

His goal, Dugan said, is to start franchising 86 Cold Press regionally.

“I’m viewing this as more of a stepping stone toward a new future for 86 Cold Press,” he said.

Stay tuned for news on Dugan’s new address and reopening date.
