Another farmers market will open in downtown Wichita next week
Like many other events in Wichita that were put on pause once the pandemic hit, Fidelity Bank has not put on its weekday downtown farmers market in three years.
But the market, which originally launched in 2017, will return this summer, although it will look a bit different. Instead of putting on the mid-day markets every other week, organizers are putting together three big monthly markets. Each will have far more vendors than have been present in years past.
The first market will happen from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21 and will move from the previous location in the courtyard north of the bank to the parking lot east of it at Market and English. The bank will also reserve an adjoining lot for customer parking.
Subsequent markets will happen during the same hours on July 19 and on Aug. 16.
Next week’s market is set to have around 17 vendors — up from five during previous years — and they’ll be selling produce, jellies and jams, salsa, kombucha and more. The market will also include a cooking demonstration by Krista Sanderson with Eat Real America, and food truck Ken N Barbie’z Rollin’ Diner will be there serving food to those on their lunch breaks.
“There’s just a little something for everyone,” said Katie Grover, senior vice president and marketing director at Fidelity.
Among the vendors at the markets will be Firefly Farm, which runs the rooftop garden at Fidelity Bank’s RISE Car Park on Market between Waterman and English, and GROW, a plant store/bar that is about to open on the ground floor of the car park. Reverie Coffee Roasters and Inspirit Kombucha also will have booths, as will Elm Lane Farm, Meadowlark Farm, Alpha Greens and Thyme to Grow.
