A taco truck that’s been drawing taco and burrito fans to Harry and Oliver since last summer has just added a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Wichita’s north side.

The owners of Tacos y Burritos La Guera, which operates daily from its permanent spot in the parking lot of a strip center on the northwest corner of Harry and Oliver, have just opened a stationary restaurant in the former Birrieria La Nieta De Villa space at 2247 N. Broadway. The restaurant sits just north of Connie’s Mexico Cafe.

Owner Alma Garcia, who runs both businesses with the help of her husband, Manuel Garcia, and daughter, Rosy Lopez, will also keep the food truck running, Lopez said.

The new restaurant has room for six tables and will add alcohol to the menu as soon as its liquor license is approved. It offers many of the same items found on the food truck, including burritos, tortas, tacos, nachos, asada fries and combo meals, but at the new restaurant, Alma will also be able to serve more composed dishes. She’ll also offer menudo and birria on the weekends.

The restaurant will be open from 9 a.m. t 8 p.m. daily. The hours for the food truck, which is in the parking lot of the A-OK Pawn Shop at 1547 N. Oliver, are 3 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
