New Chinese restaurant taking over Fuji space near Central and Hillside in Wichita
The owners of Fuji — the Japanese grill and sushi restaurant that has operated at 327 N. Hillside for the past eight years — announced earlier this month via Facebook that they’d be closing at the end of the month, citing a desire to dedicate more time with family.
Now, there are details about the restaurant that will be taking over the space.
In early April, it will become home to a new quick-service Chinese restaurant called China Town, which will focus on to-go orders but also will have space for people to stay and eat.
Hannah Chen, who will be the manager of China Town, says the owner lives in California but hired a chef who has cooked for Kin Lin Chinese Restaurant in Kansas City for the past 15 years to run the China Town kitchen. The chef recently relocated to Wichita, she said.
The menu will include all the typical Chinese dishes people are accustomed to but will also include chef’s specials like black pepper chicken and scallion beef.
“He’s really good at everything on our menu,” Chen said of the chef.
The restaurant’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 9:30 p.m. Sundays. It will offer its own delivery as well as delivery through DoorDash.
Chen said she’d send the menu in the next couple of days and I’ll add it here when she does.
