A breakfast chain that’s been in Wichita since 2008 has closed another one of its restaurants in Wichita — but it will soon be adding one in Derby.

On Monday morning, Jimmy’s Egg announced via Facebook that on Sunday, it had permanently closed its restaurant at 1210 W. Pawnee, which is at Pawnee and Seneca and had been open since September 2017.

But Crystal Loffland, the director of operations for the restaurant chain, said Jimmy’s Egg will soon open a new restaurant at 317 N. Rock Road Derby. That’s in the same strip center that has Planet Fitness.

There’s no date set for the opening, though Jimmy’s Egg is aiming for June or July, she said.

The Wichita restaurant, she said, is technically being relocated to Derby, which she described as a better location.

Sunday’s Pawnee and Seneca closure leaves four Jimmy’s Egg restaurants in Wichita: At 7777 E. 21st St., 8728 W. Central, 550 N. Webb and 106 S. Hydraulic. There’s also one at 1320 W. Central in El Dorado.

Businessmen Wink Hartman and Morrie Sheets brought the chain to Wichita 14 years ago and at one time had as many as eight Wichita restaurants. Sheets sold his interest in Jimmy’s Egg to Hartman in July and is working in commercial real estate. He also still owns Mort’s Martini Bar at 923 E. First St.

The Jimmy’s Egg chain is based in Oklahoma and has restaurants in that state as well as in Kansas, Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas and New York.
