Two east Wichita restaurants close on Thursday after possible COVID-19 exposure
Two more Wichita restaurants have voluntarily closed after a “positive exposure” to COVID-19.
On Thursday afternoon, Facebook posts shared on two A&M Management Group restaurants — Deano’s Grill & Tapworks at 9747 E. 21st St. and Greystone Restaurant across the parking lot at 9719 E. 21st St. — announced that both were closing while all employees were tested for the virus.
Lauren Irwin, the management group’s corporate officer, said that they believe an employee at Deano’s has tested positive for the virus, and because the two restaurants share the same parking lot, she and partner John Arnold decided to close Greystone for testing as well, just to be cautious.
“We can’t wait to navigate through this as a team,” she said, adding that the restaurant was facing uncharted waters and learning every day.
The group’s other two restaurants, Oak & Pie and Stearman Field Bar & Grill in Benton, remain open.
Deano’s and Greystone are the latest restaurants in Wichita to voluntarily close as a precaution after employees tested positive. Just this week, La Chinita and Cevicheria y Botanas La Isla, both on North Broadway in Wichita, announced that they had closed to test employees after a positive tests. The latter will reopen on Saturday.
Connie’s Mexico Cafe, Stroud’s, Paleteria Tropicana, Lotus Leaf Cafe and Jose Pepper’s West also all have closed in recent weeks after employees either tested positive or were exposed to someone who had. Of those, all but Connie’s and Lotus Leaf Cafe have since reopened.
