Order food to-go from this Wichita brewery and it’ll throw in a roll ... of toilet paper
If you eat, eventually, you’ll ... need toilet paper.
So on Friday, a Wichita brewery launched a hard-to-resist deal for customers who might be craving a burger to-go but also might be short on toilet tissue.
PourHouse ICT at 711 E. Douglas — a restaurant and brewery that closed down its dining room earlier this week — is now offering customers a roll of toilet paper with every to-go order over $10.
“These are crappy times for everyone, but we haven’t lost our sense of humor,” read the Facebook post on Friday announcing the deal.
Owner B.J. Hunt said that he and his staff decided that, as serious as the coronavirus situation is, a little levity was in order. They contacted the guy who supplies paper products to their restaurant to see if he could come up with some extra rolls.
“I texted him out of the blue, and I think he laughed so dang hard,” Hunt said. “Then he said, ‘I think I could get you five cases.’”
That’s 490 rolls, and “they’re here till they’re not,” Hunt said in the post.
PourHouse ICT owners decided earlier in the week that closing the dining room at the restaurant was the best decision, but Hunt wants to try and keep a few top employees on board. He doesn’t want to be scrambling when it’s “go time” again, he said.
Now, he’s offering to-go meals and to-go beer from the walk-up window on the west-facing side of the restaurant. They’re also offering curbside-to-go.
“We’re just trying to have some fun,” he said. “Our job as a brewery is to kind of give you a mental vacation.”
