Harrison Ford is back in Wichita for his 2020 visit, and he likes what he likes
Movie star Harrison Ford is back in Wichita for his annual visit, and over the past couple of days, he’s visited two of his regular restaurant haunts, the owners report.
On Sunday evening, the staff of Sabor at 309 N. Mead in Old Town Square reported to owners Melad and Deanna Stephan that Ford, 77, had stopped in for dinner. Traditionally, Sabor has been Ford’s first (and sometimes final) visit when he comes to Wichita.
Then, on Monday, Ford dined at another Old Town Square restaurant: New Lemongrass: Taste of Vietnam, said owner Hoang Nguyen, who posed for a photo with Ford and posted it on Facebook with the caption “Mr. President ‘Air Force One’ in the House.”
Ngyuen reported that Ford visited with a friend and had veggie spring rolls, veggie egg rolls and Fireman Shrimp. Lemongrass is also a regular Wichita stop for Ford, and Nguyen said it was his second time spotting Ford in the restaurant at 300 N. Mead since he and some partners took it over last year.
Every year for the past four years, Ford has appeared in Wichita around the last week of January or first week of February and is always spotted in his hotel, out dining in local restaurants or shopping for shoes. He usually stays for three or four days.
This year, he’s a little later than usual. Typically, he shows up in late January or early February. Perhaps he was delayed by promotional work for his recent movie “Call of the Wild,” which was released on Feb. 21.
Ford, an avid pilot who comes to Wichita to have his plane serviced, always causes a stir when he arrives, and we always start getting messages and calls from fans and business owners who spot him around town. Over the past several years, the star has been sighted at places like the Hyatt, Doo-Dah Diner, Chipotle, Georges French Bistro, Chester’s Chophouse, even Best Buy.
So if you think you see Han Solo when you’re out to dinner over the next few days, you’re not losing your mind.
