A mom-and-pop pizza restaurant in the Wichita area has closed after 18 years
A longtime near-Wichita pizza restaurant has closed.
Bob & Luigi’s, which had operated at 4559 N. Woodlawn since the early 2001, has been closed for at least a week. Owner Eliot Green confirmed the news.
“We have closed the shop,” he said. “We will miss our loyal fans, one and all.”
The restaurant served specialty pizzas, slices, calzones, pasta dishes and sandwiches and had a cozy, mom-and-pop feel. In recent months, it had closed for several lunch shifts citing a lack of staff.
Howard Larson founded Bob & Luigi’s in 2001, opening both the Bel Aire store and the Andover store, which is at 325 W. Central. In 2010, he sold Bel Aire to Eliot and Becky Green. He held on to the Andover store until last October, when he sold it to Roth Christopherson, who has hired one of the Bel Aire restaurant’s employees and may take on another, he said.
Before it was Bob & Luigi’s, the little space in Bel Aire had been home to a QuikTrip and then a Gambino’s Pizza.
Christopherson said he’s been getting several Bob & Luigi’s fans from Bel Aire in his restaurant, which has the same menu. He’s contemplating expanding his restaurant, too, he said.
