West Wichita is getting a new catfish, seafood restaurant

A new restaurant specializing in Southern food is set to open soon on West Central.

Sam’s Southern Eatery, a chain that originated in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 2008, is planning to open a restaurant in Wichita as early as December or as late as February, said Chris Chaudhry, one of the chain’s owners.

There are now more than 50 Sam’s Southern Eatery restaurants, most in the southern United States.

It will be a full-service restaurant, Chaudhry said, with a menu that includes things like catfish, shrimp, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and Po’ Boy sandwiches. Customers also can get crab cakes, fish platters, chicken wings and fried oysters.

“Wichita needs a good seafood and catfish place,” Chaudhry said.

The owners don’t want to reveal the exact address on West Central yet but say they will share it in the next couple of weeks.

I’ll let you know when there’s more information. In the meantime, peruse the menu below.
