Get a pint from all 10 of Wichita’s craft breweries at this popular once-a-year pub crawl

Wichita has lots of craft breweries.

Wichita has lots of pub crawls.

But Wichita has only one pub crawl where attendees are invited to visit all 10 local breweries and enjoy a pint at each one, and it’s just four weeks away.

The third annual ICT Brew Pub Crawl will happen Nov. 9 and 10, and tickets are now on sale. The event is the invention of Dawn Shepler-Heady, the tap room manager and event coordinator at Third Place Brewing, 630 E. Douglas.

The first time she organized it, Shepler-Heady said, Third Place was new, and she wanted to find a way to get people through the doors. She decided to spread the love see if the other breweries wanted to participate.

“A lot of people are like, ‘I’ve never heard of Third Place,’” she said. “I want people to understand that there’s more than one option.”

A ticket to the pub crawl costs $70 and will allow participants one pint at each of Wichita’s 10 breweries. Ticket holders also get a pub crawl T-shirt.

Organizers have made a change this year that should make the crawl more manageable for less hard-core beer drinkers. People will be able to share one ticket, though they’ll still be able to use it for only one pint at each stop.

Also, a ticket holder who doesn’t — or can’t — get through all 10 pints on the Saturday of the event can finish the tour the next day.

“We’re not looking for people to go out and shove down 10 pints of beer,” she said. “We’re offering a couple of different options to try and keep people safe.”

In 2017, the crawl drew 89 participants. Last year, three were 298. Shepler-Heady is encouraging people to get their tickets soon. They’re available at creativedesigntees.com.

Participating breweries are Third Place Brewing, Hopping Gnome Brewing. Central Standard Brewing, Aero Plains Brewing, Limestone Beer Company, River City Brewing Company, Wichita Brewing Company East, Augustino Brewing Company, Nortons Brewing Company and Pour House

“It’s just a way for the public to go out and find out what Wichita has to offer,” she said. “Wichita has so many amazing opportunities.”
