Many people have been asking about the quirky new sign with a cute little gnome at 1710 E. Douglas.

That’s the new home of Hopping Gnome Brewing Company, which opened last weekend.

The small craft brewery belongs to Torrey Lattin and his wife, Stacy Ward Lattin. Torrey was a hobby brewer who decided the wanted to share his creations with Wichita.

The brewery is opening slowly, Stacy said. For now, it’s open only from 5:30 to midnight on Fridays and noon to midnight on Saturdays. Eventually, it will also open on Thursdays and Sundays.

Also, for now, Hopping Gnome has just has three beers on tap: an extra special bitter, an Amber and an oatmeal stout. But more are coming, including an IPA.

Hopping Gnome serves free popcorn but no other food. They frequently invite food trucks to park outside to serve their customers, and on Friday, the Flying Stove will be there from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Eventually, the couple also hopes to add wine and homemade root beer to its offerings.

There’s seating inside for about 45, and customers can buy beer by the pint or by the growler.

Follow along with the brewery’s progress on its Facebook page.
