Former fans of Big B’s Beef, the restaurant focusing on Chicago-style sandwiches that closed at 605 W. Douglas in Delano in late August, have reason two reasons to get hungry again.

Owners Liz and Brian Bathgate say they are working on opening a Big B’s food truck, which will get their Chicago-style cuisine back on the streets. It won’t be ready before spring, though.

In the meantime, customers can get a taste of Big B’s at what the Bathgates hope will become monthly events at Woodland Lakes Community Church, 770 S. Greenwich. From noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 18, the Bathgates will sell their food there as part of a fundraiser. The event will have a spacious seating area, and the owners will serve their main menu items, including Italian beef sandwiches, Italian sausages, Chicago dogs and more, for dine-in or carryout. They’ll also accept orders for larger platters.

Customers will can place orders in advance via email (bigbsbeef@hotmail.com), on their Facebook page, or by calling 316-727-9935.

I’ll keep you updated on the food truck.
