Whiskey, tequila the stars of two dinners coming up at Wichita restaurants

I love a good wine dinner.

But I’m intrigued by a couple of dinners coming up that will revolve around drinks with a little (a lot) more “umph.” And they’re both on school nights. Eeep.

The first one is a Jack Daniel’s dinner that chef Ben George is putting on next week at Siena Tuscan Steakhouse inside the Ambassador Hotel at 104 S. Broadway. It’s a five-course dinner, and each course is paired with a different type of Jack Daniel’s. An example: Course four is a pumpkin-rubbed, smoked veal tenderloin paired with Sinatra Select whiskey. There’s also an agave jalapeno candied bacon cheesecake on the menu, and the welcome drink is Lynchburg Lemonade.

Reservations are due by Sunday by calling 316-239-7100, and the dinner costs $100 a person. It starts at 6:30 p.m on Sept. 30. You can see the full menu lineup here.

Then, on Oct. 13, Molino’s Mexican Cuisine at 1064 N. Waco, which recently announced plans for expansion, is putting on a Don Julio tequila dinner that will feature four courses and four different Don Julio tequilas, ranging from “Blanco” to “1942.”

It’s $50 a person, and the dinner starts at 7 p.m. Make reservations by calling 316-977-9336.
