Wichita's latest chicken restaurant is set to open this week, and those who go early for opening day will have a chance to earn free chicken for a year.
At 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the city's first Cowboy Chicken will open at 3130 N. Rock Road, in the same strip center as PepperJax Grill. The restaurant, which specializes in wood-fired rotisserie chicken, has a whole week's worth of events planned to celebrate. The biggie is on Wednesday, when five customers who are lined up when the doors open will win free chicken for a year.
Cowboy Chicken's hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
The restaurant will be set up in 3,200 square feet, and the centerpiece is a large wood-burning rotisserie where people can watch the chickens cooking. The menu includes rotisserie chicken dinners, chicken enchiladas, chicken sandwiches, salads and sides like Ranchero beans, tomato cucumber salad, slaw and roasted jalapenos. The free chicken deal works like this: The first 100 people waiting in line when the restaurant opens on Wednesday will be entered into a drawing, and five winners will be chosen. People have to be 18 or older to win. Here's where you can find all the fine print:.
