A new restaurant at 5218 E. 21st St. N. features authentic Middle Eastern food native to countries such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey plus gyros from Greece.

It’s called Gyro House, and it opened a week ago. The restaurant is managed by Bassam Hamwi, who until recently has served his cuisine out of a corner of the Ranoosh Market next door at 5220 E. 21st St. N. under the name Gyro King & More. Now, he has expanded into the space that previously housed Kerr Awa African Flavor Restaurant.

Bassam is serving a menu full of gyros, kabobs, lamb dishes and more. It’s open from 1 to 11 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, when customers can order from the menu only. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays and from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturdays, when a buffet is served in addition to the menu.

For more information, call 316-409-8710 or 316-300-9726. See pictures of the new restaurant and its exotic food on its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/GyroKingAndMore.
