Ice cream might be the last thing you want to think about on this frigid day, but that might all change by Thursday.

That’s when Jeff and Jana Pinney plan to open their new DQ Grill & Chill at 7777 W. Maple. The building sits just in front of the Target.

The couple, who also own the DQ at the corner of 37th and Maize Road, are busy now with training, painting and other last-minute details. Jeff Pinney said that, considering the 500-plus people who pulled into the parking lot over the weekend, thinking the new DQ might already be open, the restaurant should be a hit in the neighborhood.

The new DQ will have a drive-through.

Pinney plans to wait until warmer weather to plant grass and landscape, but everything else will be ready on Thursday, he said.

The restaurant’s hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
