Would you just look at this photo of Mrs. C.A. Magill enjoying the St. James Olde English Tea in 1948?

According to the St. James Facebook page, where I spotted this gem, she’s wearing a frock and hat that was owned by her mother in 1900.

On Saturday, the tea will return for its 86th go-round.

It’s a fundraiser for the church at 3750 E. Douglas that offers dainty tea served in dainty cups along with dainty tea cookies and sandwiches. People dress up (though no doubt not as smartly as Mrs. C.A. Magill) and shop for items including St. James’ signature English toffee.

The tea is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, and admission is $12 cash at the door, $6 for ages 4-12. For more information, call 316-683-5686.
