New taco vendor is now open in downtown Wichita
He got the keys to his new downtown taco shop, and 11 days later, J.D. Young had it open.
Now, he’s ready to serve the masses at Douglas Street Tacos, which is set up in the last vacant kiosk at Union Station Plaza, 701 E. Douglas
Young, who already has a hit with his Funky Monkeys Shaved Ice 21+, an alcoholic shaved ice business that’s set up in one of the plaza’s other kiosks, is starting out slow with a limited menu and shorter hours than he plans.
For this week, he’ll be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Saturday. Then, he’ll start his normal hours, which will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
His opening week menu includes street tacos starting at $2.50 apiece with the option of a corn or flour tortillas and choice of carne asada, chicken or pork. Chips and salsa and chips and queso also are available.
