The only thing that tastes better than good pie is free pie, and in Wichita, several restaurants offer it.

All you have to do is visit on the correct night and order a meal.

Here are the details on a few local restaurants that give away free slices of pie (and one that serves it almost free.)

▪ Livingston’s Diner, 9747 E. 21st St.: This newly relocated diner offers a free slice of pie to people who purchase dinner and a beverage during its happy hour, which is 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

▪ Village Inn: This breakfast chain offers a free slice of classic fruit pie, lemon meringue or peach lattice with any dine in purchase on Wednesdays. That’s today! Wichita has Village Inn restaurants at 7020 W. Central, 3535 S. Meridian, 1685 S. Rock Road and at 1200 N. Rock Road in Derby.

▪ Spear’s Restaurant and Pie Shop, 4323 W. Maple: Thursdays are free pie days at Spear’s, where customers can get a free slice with every meal purchase.

▪ Fat Ernies, 2806 S. Hydraulic: They don’t give their pie away, but Fat Ernies sells slices for $1.49 on Thursdays.
